Background and Aim: Maritime crimes in the southern borders of the country impose many damages and costs on our society every year. Preventive management can be considered as one of the basic strategies to deal with these crimes. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the current and favorable situation of maritime crime prevention management in the southern borders of Iran.
Method: The research is applied in terms of purpose and quantitative-qualitative in terms of data nature and descriptive-analytical in terms of type of research. The statistical population of the study includes commanders and deputies of the province and naval bases, naval fleets, naval border checkpoints serving in the provinces of Hormozgan, Sistan and Baluchestan, Bushehr and Khuzestan. To determine the sample size, Klein method was used, which is a suitable sample for this statistical population of 364 people. The sampling method was quota and a researcher-made questionnaire was used, the validity of which was evaluated by experts and the reliability of the research questionnaire was calculated through Cronbach's alpha of 0.95.
Results: The average of the current situation of maritime crime prevention management is 2.35 and the average of the environmental dimension is 2.42 and the behavioral dimension is 2.40 and the structure dimension is 2.22. In examining the gap between the desired situation and the current situation, the difference between the two means is -2.13, which is significant at the 99% level. In other words, the average situation is higher than the current situation.
